Community Colonial Day Resources

Colonial Day events provide an exciting, hands-on opportunity for students to learn about early American history and get a glimpse into the diverse lives of our 18th-century ancestors, from Indigenous Americans to European colonists and Africans.

The Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence partners each year with alumni of the Colonial Williamsburg and George Washington Teacher Institutes to host Colonial Day at the State Capitol and encourages teachers to host similar experiential learning activities in their communities. This section of our website – developed in partnership with Teacher Institute alumni – provides ideas and resources for teachers to organize their own Colonial/Revolutionary Day activities.

For more information, contact Colonial Day at the Capitol director Teresa Potter or OFE Early American History Programs liaison Brenda Wheelock.
